The 1967 FA Cup Final took place at Wembley on 20 May 1967, between Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea. It was the competition's first final to be contested between two teams from London, and is thus often (and misleadingly) dubbed the Cockney Cup Final. It was only Chelsea's second appearance in an FA Cup final, and their first for over 50 years, but they were unable to win the trophy for the first time; losing 2-1.

The Tottenham side, containing former Chelsea players Jimmy Greaves and Terry Venables, took a 2-0 lead through goals from Jimmy Robertson and Frank Saul, before Bobby Tambling scored a consolation for Chelsea with just five minutes remaining.

Match review

Spurs were on top for the majority of the first half, with Peter Bonetti turning the first of two early efforts from Tottenham's Jimmy Robertson round the post with typical agility, before a second effort just cleared the Chelsea crossbar. Chelsea's best effort came from Charlie Cooke; a jinking run resulting in a firm shot that forced a save from Pat Jennings. Spurs then took the lead just before half time; Robertson finally getting on the scoresheet for the North Londoners with a low left-footed strike.

Tottenham continued to control the match in the second period, and scored a second goal midway through the half. Robertson was again involved, the Scot helping on a long throw from Dave Mackay that Frank Saul turned in. Bobby Tambling headed in what turned out to be a consolation goal in the 85th minute, with the Blues unable to muster an equaliser.
