Beşiktaş 0-2 Chelsea was played in at the AufSchalke Arena in Gelsenkirchen, rather than at Beşiktaş' home stadium. UEFA moved the match after a spate of bombings in Istanbul. The final match of the 2003-04 UEFA Champions League group stage, Chelsea had already qualified for the knock-out stages but needed a point to guarantee top spot in Group G. In a hostile atmosphere in which steamers and missiles were constantly thrown on to the pitch, late goals from Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink and Wayne Bridge secured all three points for the Blues.
