Pre-Chelsea career

Callum joined Chelsea at a young age. He is the younger brother of non-league striker Bradley Hudson-Odoi.

Chelsea career

Callum made his Under-18 debut in August 2016 and never looked back, setting the course for one of the most memorable schoolboy campaigns in academy history. He played himself into a regular starting berth and was, at times, unstoppable as Jody Morris' side went onto complete a domestic treble of league and cup successes. His goal in the FA Youth Cup Final vs Manchester City brought the house down on a season where his 8 goals and 11 assists proved as influential as any player in the squad.

2017–18 Season

Hudson-Odoi made his senior debut in an FA Cup match against Newcastle and was later handed his Premier League debut in a brief cameo. He mostly featured for the U23s and was gradually integrated into the first-team environment.

2018–19 Season

Under Maurizio Sarri, Hudson-Odoi’s involvement grew significantly. He impressed in the Europa League group stage and made 24 appearances across all competitions, contributing 5 goals and 5 assists. His performances attracted strong interest from Bayern Munich, prompting Chelsea to resist a transfer. A ruptured Achilles tendon suffered in April 2019 ended his season prematurely, just as he was gaining momentum. He was part of the squad that won the Europa League.

2019–20 Season

After returning from his long-term injury, Hudson-Odoi signed a new long-term contract and worked under Frank Lampard. He made 33 appearances and showed flashes of quality, though his form was inconsistent as he continued recovering full fitness. He scored 3 goals in all competitions but was often used in rotation.

2020–21 Season

He started the season on the fringes but played a more prominent role after Thomas Tuchel’s arrival, even being tested as a right wing-back. He made 37 appearances and contributed to Chelsea’s Champions League success, though he didn’t feature in the final. His energy and pressing were valued under Thomas Tuchel, though he remained outside the starting XI in key games.

2021–22 Season

Hudson-Odoi enjoyed a run of starts during the autumn due to injuries in the squad and impressed with his creativity on the left wing. However, a back injury in the second half of the season ruled him out for several months. He finished with 28 appearances and 3 goals, again showing promise but unable to sustain form or fitness consistently.

With limited opportunities at Chelsea and new signings in wide areas, Hudson-Odoi was loaned to Bayer Leverkusen for the 2022-23 season. He made 21 appearances in all competitions but failed to score and struggled to make a major impact. Chelsea did not reintegrate him upon his return.

In September 2023, Hudson-Odoi joined Nottingham Forest on a permanent deal, ending a 16-year association with Chelsea.

International

Callum has represented England at every youth age level up to Under-19. In March 2019 he was called up to the Under-21s for the first time, but spent just a few hours with the group, before being called into Gareth Southgate's senior squad. He made his senior international debut at Wembley Stadium against the Czech Republic on 22nd March 2019, and made his first start three days later away to Montenegro, where he claimed an assist for Chelsea team-mate Ross Barkley's goal.
