Peterborough United Football Club is a professional football club based in Peterborough, in the East of England. They formed in 1934 at Peterborough's Angel Hotel to provide a replacement for Peterborough and Fletton United, folded two years previously. They played in the old Midland League, which they won six times; eventually being admitted to the Football League in 1960, replacing Gateshead. They hold the record for most league goals scored in a single season, 134 in 1960-61. They have played Chelsea on just two occasions, FA Cup ties in 1965 and 2001, with Chelsea scoring five goals in both games.
