Fußballklub Austria Wien, known in English as Austria Vienna, is an Austrian club based in the capital city of Vienna. The most successful club in Austria by league titles, as of 2011 they have won the Austrian league 23 times, the Austrian Cup 27 times and the Austrian Super-Cup 6 times.
Austria Wien were founded in Vienna on 12 March 1911 as the Wiener Amateur Sportvereinigung by players and officials of the Vienna Cricket-and Football-Club, taking violet and white as the new club's colours. Amateure changed their name to Austria in 1926 when the club became professional.
Chelsea's only European tie against the Austrian side was in the 1994-95 UEFA Cup Winners' Cup second round, with the Blues progressing on the away goals rule; John Spencer scoring the crucial away goal in the second leg.
