Notes
1 The 25-man Premier League squad list must include no more than 17 'non-homegrown' players over the age of 21. 'Homegrown' players are defined as those who irrespective of nationality or age, have been registered with any club affiliated to the FA or Welsh FA for a period of three entire seasons or 36 months prior to their 21st birthday (or the end of the season during which they turn 21). [1] Players classed as under 21 (born on or after 1 January 2000 in the case of the 2021-22 season) may supplement the squad. [2]
2 The 25-man UEFA Champions League 'A List' squad must include no more than 17 'non-homegrown' players. The UEFA definition of homegrown is a player who was trained for at least three years between the age of 15 and 21 at a club within the relevant national association. Of the 8 places reserved for homegrown players, 4 must have been trained by the club for this length of time (not including time spent on loan). In addition to the A List, each club is entitled to register an unlimited number of players on the 'B List' as long as the list is submitted the day before the relevant match. A player can be registered on the B List if they are classed as under 21 (born on or after 1 January 2000 in the case of the 2020-21 season) and have been eligible to play for the club for any uninterrupted period of two years since their 15th birthday. Players aged 16 may be registered on the B List if they have been registered with the club for the previous two years without interruption. [3]
